The Legend of Two Young Gods

A song about the events of the 4th of Redember 732, the first night of Nyverian Eve, by Xeros the bard

Raise your drinks my hearty friends, pour the others some wine
Lights in the starless night with an incandescent shine
A cruel hand of fate, a magic of malevolent design
A night divine…
But we were blind…

Our kin had been cursed and by their touch others would turn
Into beasts that craved nothing less than for us all to burn
Only by the death of the skin they touched could they return
No time to run…
War had begun…

Drink in grief, ye who live
For a war that came from within
And the tombstones that bathed in your tears…

A curse upon our brethren
Streets bled red by the touch of skin
Made monsters out of us, so we raised our spears

but two young gods appeared…

They took the cursed ones away, led them through the ashen fields
While we buried our dead and readied our avenging steel
Our kin they might have been, but their fates had to be sealed
No time to heal…
Raise sword n’ shield…

We followed them to the mountains and faced our enemy
But no harm came to them; two young gods faced the armies
They shook the earth and split the sky, we faced their fury
Calamity…
The curse was free…

Drink in grief, ye who live
For a war that came from within
And the tombstones that bathed in your tears…

A curse upon our brethren
Streets bled red by the touch of skin
Made monsters out of us, so we raised our spears

but two young gods appeared…

Goban where were your divines when we prayed salvation?
Oh, Ranghai what laws and courage serve a broken nation?
Even Karak saw fang and claw slay their greatest champions.
But come listen…
They were your kin…

Rise of the Nyverian curse!
Golden ravens on black banners!
A nation born in the blood of those they knew…

But by their touch we turn to beasts
Only their end will bring back peace
But the two young gods broke our will in two

They slayed our kings and broke the moon
To remember them we sing this tune
For now the Nyverians are a nation too

So drink in grief, ye who live!
For a war that came from within!
And the tombstones that bathed in your tears…

A curse upon our brethren
Streets bled red by the touch of skin
Made monsters out of us, so we raised our spears

but two young gods appeared…

Oh ooh ooh…. two young gods were here.
